Katrina Kaif is Top Google Search of 2008

What do Katrina Kaif, Orkut and beijing 2008 olympic games have in common - they are all on the list of the top 10 fastest-rising queries on Google during 2008.

The search engine has published its year-end Zeitgeist, the tool which reveals what internet users are searching for.

The most searched term for Google users in India was 'Youtube' while social networking site Orkut came second. Katrina Kaif came third and topped the most searched celebrity.

"Katrina Kaif is not only the most searched for Bollywood celebrity, she is also the fastest rising search item across categories in India." said Google country head Vinay Goel, "
She is more popular in Pakistan than In India. So if she's ended up in the Top Ten list in India, she's in the top two or three list in Pakistan."

Katrina and John Abraham sizzle in New York

There may be rumours of cold vibes between them, but Katrina Kaif and John Abraham seem to share terrific chemistry on the sets of Yashraj Films’ New York .

We all know that John and Salman Khan have never gotten along together. And we are not unaware that Katrina and Bipasha Basu were not best of buddies on the sets of Race . Given these equations, it was presumed by many and John and Katrina would not gel together while working in director Kabir Khan’s movie ‘New York’.

However, the actor duo has belied the naysayers. According to reports, John and Katrina not just got along well while shooting the film in the US, they share sizzling chemistry before the camera (as can be seen in the picture above).

For better glimpses into their chemistry don’t forget to catch the film’s promos at the screenings of Yashraj Film’s latest release Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi on Friday this week.

Meanwhile, ‘New York’, directed by Kabir Khan , is set for release early next year. It would be the first YRF to hit the theatres in 2009. Apart from John and Kat, the movie also stars Neil Nitin Mukesh . Irrfan Khan plays a pivotal role as well.

According to Kabir, “New York is a contemporary story of friendship set against the larger-than-life backdrop of a city often described as the centre of the world.”

The movie’s central plot revolves around the theme of how big mishaps transform one’s life. The calamity makes news but the stories of the survivors and their struggle largely remains untold. So, ‘New York’ is the story of three friends and how their life alters after a tragedy.

John earlier teamed up with Kabir for Kabul Express, which was a moderate hit, but was panned by critics.

Katrina Kaif - Sexiest Asian Woman 2008

Bollywoodactress Katrina Kaif has been adjudged the sexiest Asian woman in the world in 2008 by a UK-based weekly, with last year's winner Bipasha Basu pushed to the second spot. In the annual round conducted by 'Eastern Eye', a leading British Asian newspaper, Kaif emerged on the top in a shortlist of 10.

The judges included Brianna Ragel, editor of Asian Woman Magazine and the former editor of FHM India, Farhad Dadyburjor. Hamant Verma, editor of Eastern Eye, said: "Katrina Kaif's natural beauty and easy charm has enabled her stock to rise in Bollywood. This has resulted in a number of lucrative offers, and appearances in films that proved to be box-office hits."

Kaif, who was brought up in London, was ranked one place above last year's winner Bipasha Basu and two ahead of 2006 winner Priyanka Chopra. Kareena Kapoor came third in the list.

New entrants to the 'sexiest list' included Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat (nine), Miss India Universe Simran Kaur Mundi (10), former Miss Sri Lanka Jacqueline Fernandez (12) and south Indian actress Asin (22). Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai was at the seventh place.
