Indian telecoms firm Tata Communications will invest 430 million US US dollars in an Asian Internet data centre and cable system, a person familiar with the situation said Thursday.
"The investment in the Internet data centre will be about 180 million US dollars, while the investment for the cable system will come to 250 million US dollars," the person, who declined to be named, told Dow Jones Newswires.
The cable system will be laid from Singapore to Japan, passing through the Philippines, Vietnam and Hong Kong, while the data centre will be based in Singapore, the person said.
Tata Communications, part of India's Tata group, has scheduled a press conference in Singapore to discuss the matter. This, when Tata's Nano has been delayed by a year due to financial losses.
Hit by a fall in volume and high material cost, auto major Tata Motors posted a net loss of Rs 263.26 crore for the third quarter, even as it said its Rs 1-lakh car Nano will take at least one year before it is launched from Sanand plant in Gujarat.
