These two big-budgeted films are major releases of Bollywood this year and if latest buzz is to be believed then both London Dreams and Blue are set for Independence Day weekend clash.
Director Vipul Shah’s decision of releasing Ajay Devgan , Salman Khan and Asin -starrer ‘London Dreams’ on August 14 was an early one, but the makers of ‘Blue’, with the cast that includes Akshay Kumar Sanjay Dutt , Lara Dutta and Katrina Kaif , also want to cash in on the long weekend by releasing their film on August 13.
The clash has made director Vipul Amrutlal Shah wary. According to him, it’s not just a simple clash of two big films; it’s the clash of Akshay’s film with his, and Akshay is not just his favourite star and friend, but a business associate as well.
Eating up into each other’s business will not do any good to these mega-budegted films at the time of economic slow down, so Vipul reportedly had a talk with the makers of ‘Blue’ who, according to Vipul, have agreed to pre-pone the release of their film from Aug 13 to 7.
However, the director of ‘Blue’, Anthony D'Souza insists that his film will release as scheduled on Aug 13 and it is ‘London Dreams’ that has been pre-poned by a week.
Confusion, confusion, confusion…It seems none wants to miss the chance of capitalizing on the long weekend that begins from Aug 13. It’s a weekend with a public holiday that draws huge crowds to the theatres.
Hope the two filmmakers sort out their differences before the release. For if they don’t, both the films will have to duke it out at the box office. And that could turn many a dream blue.
