Corey PavinHamburg - Corey Pavin looks set to replace Paul Azinger as US Ryder Cup captain for the 2010 event with Europe.

The United States defeated Europe 16[0xbd]-11[0xbd] at Valhalla in Louisville, Kentucky in September to win the trophy for the first time since 1999 but have not secured victory in Europe since The Belfry in 1993. The 2010 contest takes place at Celtic Manor in Wales.

Former US Open winner Pavin, 49, was Tom Lehman's assistant at Ireland's K Club in 2006 when Europe won by 18[0xbd]-9[0xbd].

Europe are expected to name their captain in 2009, with former Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal the current favourite. (dpa)
