The interrogation of captured terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasav has taken a chilling U turn - it was earlier thought that the terrorists who attacked Mumbai were smuggled into the city.
Now it turns out that they used Google Earth to familiarize themselves with the roads leading to the targets. The terrorists were also shown satellite images of two red buildings around Azad Maidan.
Google maps offers street maps, a route planner for bicycles, pedestrians (routes less than 6.2 miles[1]) and cars, and an urban business locator for numerous countries around the world... and it is free.
The maps provide high-resolution satellite images for most urban areas of the world and it not only makes it easier for the common man, but also for terrorists who plan to blow up chunks of cities.
Various governments have already complained about the potential for terrorists to use the satellite images in planning attacks. Google has blurred some areas for security, but these areas cover only the United States leaving countries like India vulnerable to attacks.
